Steadicopter Black Eagle 50E Advances U.S. Unmanned Helicopter Operations with Readiness Milestone

Steadicopter has announced a new U.S. operational readiness milestone for its Black Eagle 50E electric unmanned helicopter following airworthiness validation through the Nevada Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site. The milestone is supported by FAA operational authorizations covering designated areas totaling more than 8,100 square miles.

Two Steadicopter Black Eagle 50E aircraft completed the Nevada UASTS airworthiness validation process, establishing a foundation for expanded flight operations, customer demonstrations, training and mission evaluations in the United States.

Steadicopter Black Eagle 50E Completes Airworthiness Validation

The Nevada Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site, operated by the University of Nevada, Reno, conducted the airworthiness validation process for two Black Eagle 50E aircraft.

Following the assessment, Nevada UASTS issued an Airworthiness Statement covering all Black Eagle 50E aircraft in the United States operated by Steadicopter’s U.S. Demonstration and Operational Readiness Partner, Alchemy Analytics, also known as flyAlchemy.

According to Steadicopter, the validation complements FAA Certificates of Waiver or Authorization supporting operations across designated areas totaling more than 8,100 square miles.

“This milestone represents an important step in establishing a sustained U.S. operational capability for the Black Eagle 50E,” said Noam Lidor, CEO of Steadicopter.

“The Nevada UASTS process and FAA operational authorizations provide the foundation to move beyond initial demonstrations and evaluate the platform against real customer and mission requirements, while reinforcing our long-term commitment to the U.S. market.”

U.S. Authorizations Support Expanded UAS Operations

The combination of airworthiness validation and FAA operating authorizations provides a foundation for several types of Black Eagle 50E activities in the United States.

These include:

  • Continued flight operations
  • Customer demonstrations
  • Training
  • Mission evaluations
  • Development of operational use cases
  • Payload integration

The companies also plan to pursue additional operating areas and authorizations as customer requirements develop.

Electric Unmanned Helicopter Supports Multiple Missions

The Steadicopter Black Eagle 50E is an electric rotary-wing unmanned aerial system designed for vertical takeoff and landing operations without conventional runway infrastructure.

The U.S. program will support mission development across applications including:

  • Defense and security
  • Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
  • Public safety
  • Critical infrastructure
  • Remote sensing
  • Emergency response

According to Steadicopter, the aircraft combines VTOL capabilities, endurance and payload capacity within an electric unmanned helicopter platform.

flyAlchemy Supports U.S. Operations from Nevada

Alchemy Analytics and flyAlchemy have coordinated U.S. operations for the Black Eagle 50E from Reno-Stead Airport in Nevada.

Their work has included:

  • Flight operations
  • Airworthiness activities
  • Regulatory planning
  • Operational planning
  • Aircraft staging
  • Mission development
  • Customer demonstration preparation
  • Evaluation preparation

“Completing the Nevada UASTS airworthiness process, together with the FAA operating areas already established, provides a strong operational foundation for the Black Eagle 50E in the United States,” said Conrad Wright, Founder of Alchemy Analytics / flyAlchemy.

“This work allows us to move beyond simply demonstrating the aircraft and begin evaluating complete mission capabilities against real U.S. customer requirements—from payload selection and integration through training, mission-specific demonstrations and operational evaluations.”

Black Eagle 50E Supports Modular Payload Integration

The Black Eagle 50E is Steadicopter’s flagship electric rotary unmanned aerial system.

Its modular open architecture supports multiple payload configurations, including:

  • EO/IR sensors
  • Synthetic aperture radar
  • Maritime patrol radar
  • Signals intelligence systems
  • Automatic identification system receivers
  • Communications relay systems
  • Cargo configurations

Steadicopter said the platform’s hovering endurance and logistical footprint support persistent surveillance and flexible mission configurations across land and maritime environments.

Following the U.S. readiness milestone, Steadicopter and flyAlchemy plan to expand customer and partner engagement, conduct mission-specific demonstrations and evaluations, integrate additional payloads and pursue further operational authorizations for the Steadicopter Black Eagle 50E.
