Wingcopter has introduced the Wingcopter 262, an all-electric fixed-wing VTOL aircraft developed for tactical reconnaissance and persistent aerial surveillance missions. The Wingcopter tactical reconnaissance drone offers a tactical range of 150 kilometers and a flight time of up to six hours while maintaining a maximum takeoff weight of 10 kilograms.
The aircraft combines an electric tilt-rotor configuration with modular payload capabilities, resilient navigation and technologies designed for defense and security operations.
Wingcopter Tactical Reconnaissance Drone Offers Six-Hour Endurance
The Wingcopter 262 is designed to provide persistent situational awareness across an extended tactical area of operations.
Key aircraft specifications include:
- Tactical range of 150 kilometers
- Flight endurance of up to six hours
- Maximum takeoff weight of 10 kilograms
- Wingspan of 262 centimeters
- All-electric propulsion
- Fixed-wing VTOL configuration
- Tilt-rotor design
According to Wingcopter, the combination of range and endurance allows the aircraft to reach distant operating areas and remain airborne for extended surveillance missions.
AI-Enabled EO/IR Systems Support Reconnaissance Missions
The Wingcopter 262 integrates AI-enabled electro-optical and infrared camera systems for reconnaissance and surveillance operations.
The aircraft also incorporates:
- Data links
- Video links
- Positioning technology
- Resilient navigation capabilities
According to the company, technologies incorporated into the platform have been proven under real-world operational conditions in Ukraine.
The aircraft’s navigation capabilities are designed to support operations in GNSS-denied environments.
VTOL Design Eliminates Launch Infrastructure
The Wingcopter tactical reconnaissance drone uses vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, eliminating the need for dedicated launch infrastructure.
Wingcopter said a single operator can prepare the aircraft for a mission within minutes.
The modular platform also incorporates quick-swap batteries designed to reduce turnaround time between missions.
Its configuration combines vertical takeoff and landing with fixed-wing forward flight using Wingcopter’s tilt-rotor architecture.
Wingcopter 262 Supports Battle Management Integration
The Wingcopter 262 is designed for integration with the open architectures of existing battle management systems.
According to the company, the aircraft was developed with an emphasis on reducing operator workload while supporting rapid deployment in tactical environments.
Development of the aircraft draws on more than 10 years of Wingcopter experience in the development, manufacturing and operation of unmanned aircraft systems.
Wingcopter Expands Defense and Security Portfolio
The introduction of the Wingcopter 262 follows the establishment of Wingcopter Security & Defence several months earlier.
The new business unit expands the company’s existing work in logistics and surveying into defense and security applications.
Wingcopter described the 262 as a platform developed specifically for tactical reconnaissance missions.
Wingcopter Cooperates with TAF Industries
As part of the “Build with Ukraine” initiative, Wingcopter is also working with TAF Industries.
The collaboration focuses on:
- Mass production of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones
- Making the Wingcopter 262 available to Ukraine
