Griffon Aerospace Wins $133 Million U.S. Army Contract to Expand Military UAS Capabilities

Griffon Aerospace has received a nearly $133 million U.S. Army contract to provide Outlaw unmanned aerial target systems. The Griffon Aerospace UAS contract covers Outlaw systems, support equipment and field service representatives supporting system operations and training.

The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a value of $132,978,776 and is being managed by Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal.

Griffon Aerospace UAS Contract Covers Outlaw Systems

The U.S. Department of Defense announced the $132.98 million contract for Griffon’s Outlaw unmanned aerial target systems.

The award covers:

• Griffon Outlaw systems
• Support equipment
• Field service representatives
• System-use support
• Training support

According to the announcement, individual work locations and funding will be determined as orders are placed under the contract.

The estimated contract completion date is December 31, 2026.

Griffon Was Sole Bidder for Army Contract

Only one bid was solicited for the contract, with Griffon Aerospace submitting the sole bid.

Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal is responsible for overseeing the award.

The Outlaw system is used to simulate enemy aircraft and missiles, providing soldiers with training scenarios for air defense operations.

Outlaw Supports Army Air Defense Training

Griffon Aerospace has worked with U.S. Army air defense training programs for more than two decades.

The company received its first prime contract in 2003 to produce the MQM-170A Outlaw “G1” aerial target for the Army.

Since that award, Griffon has continued developing its portfolio of target drones and unmanned aircraft systems.

Griffon Aerospace Expands Unmanned Aircraft Work

Griffon Aerospace was founded in 1995 by CEO Larry French.

The company’s early work included the Lionheart kit aircraft before its operations shifted toward unmanned aircraft systems and composite manufacturing.

The latest Griffon Aerospace UAS contract provides up to $132,978,776 for Outlaw unmanned aerial target systems, support equipment and field service personnel supporting U.S. Army system use and training through the contract period.
