MBF Group S.A. is advancing its unmanned aircraft development program through a two-track strategy that combines continued commercial development of the IRYDA+ X1 with a new research and development initiative called IRYDA+ SPACE Z1. The IRYDA+ SPACE Z1 UAS program is intended to explore technologies that could support future military unmanned aircraft while building on engineering experience gained through X1.
According to MBF Group, X1 remains the near-term commercial platform, while SPACE Z1 is being developed as a longer-term technology program focused on communications, autonomy, artificial intelligence and space-enabled capabilities.
IRYDA+ SPACE Z1 UAS Builds on X1 Development
MBF Group said SPACE Z1 is not being developed as a space drone. Instead, the program will examine how technologies associated with the space sector could support unmanned aircraft operating in terrestrial military environments.
Areas under consideration include:
- Satellite and hybrid beyond-line-of-sight communications
- Encrypted telemetry
- Satellite-assisted command and control
- Earth-observation data
- EO/IR integration
- Resilient navigation
- Edge computing
- Sensor fusion
- AI-supported mission management
The company described SPACE Z1 as a structured technology-development program rather than a completed aircraft.
Artificial Intelligence Supports Future UAS Capabilities
Artificial intelligence is expected to be a significant area of development within the IRYDA+ SPACE Z1 UAS program.
MBF Group said it is evaluating potential applications including:
- Onboard image processing
- Object classification
- Operator assistance
- Mission planning
- Dynamic mission modification
- Multi-sensor data fusion
- Integration of information from external sources
The longer-term objective is to increase the amount of information that can be processed onboard the aircraft, allowing the system to remain operationally useful when communications are degraded or contested.
IRYDA+ X1 Remains Near-Term Commercial Platform
While SPACE Z1 focuses on future technologies, MBF Group is continuing development of the IRYDA+ X1 as a commercial platform.
The company is preparing the technical and commercial materials required to move X1 from demonstration toward a structured offering.
Current work includes:
- Technical specifications
- Configuration options
- Delivery conditions
- Service support
- Supporting documentation
MBF Group is also preparing for additional institutional procedures and plans to present IRYDA+ X1 during MSPO 2026 in Kielce.
The company said the introduction of SPACE Z1 represents technological continuity rather than a change in direction. X1 provides the engineering foundation, while SPACE Z1 will explore how that foundation could incorporate more advanced communications, autonomy, artificial intelligence and space-enabled technologies.
MBF Group Begins Discussions with Technology Partners
MBF Group said it has begun preliminary discussions with selected Polish companies working in areas including satellite communications, space technology, optics, imaging and data processing.
The companies have not been identified because discussions remain preliminary and no binding participation agreements have been announced.
According to MBF Group, the program is expected to remain open to:
- Technology companies
- Universities
- Research and development centers
- Industrial partners in Poland and other countries
The company also intends to build on cooperation between Poland and Türkiye, including possible consultation with R&D units at Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya.
MBF Group said it intends to use Polish engineering, academic and industrial capabilities where possible while supporting the transfer and localization of technical know-how in Poland.
Production Planning Extends Beyond X1
Production requirements currently being evaluated for future IRYDA+ X1 manufacturing in Poland could eventually be expanded to accommodate SPACE Z1 requirements.
Potential areas include:
- Electronics integration
- Communications systems
- Optoelectronics
- AI software
- Testing infrastructure
The approach indicates that MBF Group is evaluating a broader technology and production base extending beyond assembly of an individual unmanned aircraft model.
Company Plans September Shareholder Meeting
The program also includes a capital-market component.
MBF Group has called an Extraordinary General Meeting for September 14, 2026. Draft resolutions include proposed new share issues and an expansion of the company’s registered activities to cover the design, production, servicing and R&D of unmanned aircraft and related technologies.
One proposed Series K investment involves Radosław Majdan, who would be offered 160,000 new shares at PLN 6.25 per share under the draft resolution. The proposed investment totals PLN 1 million and includes a voluntary 12-month lock-up.
The IRYDA+ SPACE Z1 UAS initiative establishes a longer-term development path alongside the commercial IRYDA+ X1 program. MBF Group plans to present the current X1 platform at MSPO 2026 while discussing its next-generation roadmap centered on satellite connectivity, AI, autonomy and advanced mission systems.
