Archer Unveils Zee AI Aviation Model to Advance Autonomous Flight and eVTOL Innovation

Archer Aviation has introduced Archer Zee AI aviation, a foundational model designed specifically for aviation. The company said Zee provides a unified aviation intelligence platform by combining multiple operational data sources, with the goal of supporting future autonomous flight applications and improving flight safety and efficiency.

According to Archer, the model is trained on real-world operational data collected through the company’s proprietary data pipeline and a global network of more than 6,000 ADS-B receivers.

Archer Zee AI Aviation Platform Integrates Flight Data

Archer said Zee combines multiple aviation data sources into a single intelligence platform, including:

• ADS-B data
• Air traffic control (ATC) communications
• Maps and charts
• Aircraft state data
• Terrain data
• Weather data

The company stated that Zee is designed to interpret these data sources as a unified system rather than as separate streams of information.

“We are building an intelligence layer for the entire aviation system with Zee. The company that owns the data and the foundation model will help lead the aviation industry into the next era of flight,” said Adam Goldstein, founder and CEO of Archer.

Archer Zee AI Aviation Targets Autonomous Flight Applications

According to Archer, more than 45,000 flights operate in American airspace on a typical day, generating continuous streams of radio communications, navigation inputs and aircraft state information.

The company said Zee is designed to deliver a lower-latency, higher-performing model capable of operating directly on a device without requiring connectivity. Archer stated this approach is intended to support a variety of aviation environments, including:

• Air taxis
• UAVs
• Commercial airliners
• Air traffic management systems

AI Team Supports Aviation Intelligence Development

Archer said its AI organization includes nearly 100 researchers and engineers led by Mario Srouji, Vice President of AI Products. The team is advised by Professor Ruslan Salakhutdinov and includes researchers with previous experience at AI companies in Silicon Valley and university laboratories.

According to the company, the U.S. Department of Transportation has committed approximately $20 billion toward modernizing the national airspace system. Archer said Zee is designed to support that transition by applying artificial intelligence to operational aviation decisions with the goal of improving flight safety and efficiency.

Archer Plans Initial Zee Pilot Programs

Archer said it is in discussions to deploy Zee through initial pilot programs with governments, airlines and other industry partners.

According to the company, planned applications include:

• Airline operations
• Airspace management
• Copilot assistance

Archer said these deployments are intended to support improvements in flight safety and operational efficiency as the company advances its aviation intelligence platform.
