SCD Wins Multi-Million-Dollar Orders for HOT HD MWIR Detectors Supporting Defense Imaging Systems

SCD, a global leader in the development and manufacture of advanced infrared detector technologies, today announced that it has secured three multi- million-dollar orders from leading global customers for its advanced HOT HD MWIR
detectors.

The detectors will be integrated into next-generation counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), long-range surveillance platforms, border protection systems, and homeland security applications.

The new orders reflect growing global demand for SCD’s HOT MWIR technology and highlight the company’s ability to support large-scale defense programs through reliable, high-volume manufacturing.

SCD’s vertically integrated manufacturing combines advanced infrared semiconductor production, detector fabrication, Dewar packaging, optical integration, cooled detector assembly, and long-life cooling technologies. Together, these capabilities enable reliable high-volume manufacturing for demanding defense programs.

SCD’s HOT HD MWIR detectors provide high-resolution imaging, extended operational lifetime and reliable performance for demanding defense and homeland security applications.

SCD’s fourth-generation HOT MWIR technology combines more than two decades of operational experience with mature, high-volume manufacturing capabilities. SCD’s ability to deliver thousands of cooled MWIR detectors every month reflects its
mature manufacturing infrastructure and operational readiness.

SCD’s HOT MWIR detectors are designed to operate at higher temperatures while maintaining excellent sensitivity and image performance. This capability reduces the cooling burden on the system, supports more efficient payload design, and contributes to improved reliability and operational availability. When combined with advanced long-life cooling solutions and integrated cooled detector assemblies, the technology enables longer mean time to failure, reduced maintenance requirements, and improved system readiness.

These advantages are especially important for C-UAS, long-range surveillance, border
protection, AFV’s and critical infrastructure defense applications, where continuous
operation, rapid threat detection, and minimal downtime are essential. HD MWIR detection
provides the resolution and long-range performance required to detect, classify, and track
small or distant targets under challenging operational conditions.
“These orders reflect the growing demand for mature, production-ready HOT MWIR
technology,” said Kobi Zaushnizer, CEO of SCD. “Today’s customers are looking beyond
detector performance. They need a trusted partner with the proven ability to deliver
advanced technology at scale, while maintaining the quality, reliability, and supply
continuity required for long-term defense programs. These orders reinforce SCD’s position
as a technology and manufacturing leader in the global infrared market.”
