Atlantic Aviation has announced the acquisition of Ferrovial Vertiports, formerly managed by the international infrastructure firm Ferrovial. This strategic move underscores Atlantic Aviation’s commitment to fostering sustainable infrastructure for advanced air mobility (AAM). By merging its expertise in the fixed-base operator (FBO) sector with specialized knowledge in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) infrastructure, Atlantic Aviation is poised to lead the charge in industry innovation.
Vertiports serve as critical hubs for eVTOL aircraft, facilitating takeoffs, landings, and hovering in a variety of environments from urban to rural landscapes. These facilities are designed to improve regional connectivity while promoting environmentally friendly, low-emission transport solutions. Post-acquisition, Ferrovial Vertiports will transition to operating under the banner of VertiPorts by Atlantic. The existing leadership will remain integral, focusing on identifying and developing prime locations for new vertiports across the United States, thereby enhancing community links.
Atlantic Aviation has long been at the forefront of adapting FBO facilities for eVTOL readiness. This includes the addition of electric aircraft charging stations at various locations and significant upgrades at the 34th Street Heliport in New York to facilitate eVTOL operations. With this acquisition, Atlantic Aviation not only reaffirms its leadership in AAM but also plans to establish a vast network of eVTOL sites, leveraging its vision, resources, and expertise.
“We see tremendous long-term benefits and growth in building out infrastructure to support the advanced air mobility space,” said Jeff Foland, Chief Executive Officer at Atlantic Aviation. “The combination of our operational expertise with the outstanding work the Ferrovial Vertiports team has done so far will serve as a tremendous boost to safe and efficient eVTOL operations as the network develops.”
“Vertiports will be an essential element in Atlantic Aviation’s development of sustainable solutions and state-of-the art aviation services,” added Luke Bugeja, Chief Executive Officer of Ferrovial Airports.
