Leading Australian drone technology innovator Carbonix is pleased to announce a partnership with
Australia’s premier provider of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) flight operations and training Toll
Uncrewed Systems, part of Toll Aviation.
The agreement will see Toll Uncrewed Systems become the primary trainer for Carbonix drones in
Australia.
Carbonix provides an enduring ‘eye-in-the-sky’ platform combining advanced fixed-wing flight with
vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) in a sovereign integrated uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV).
The company’s UAV platforms excel in executing rapid aerial surveys and situational awareness data
across vast and rugged terrain. They can be equipped with a variety of payload sensors, including
LiDAR, photogrammetry, ISR, and multi-spectral capabilities. A Carbonix aircraft recently became the
first Australian fixed-wing VTOL drone to execute a fully automated Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS)
gathering remote critical data for a power network customer.
Toll Aviation delivers both standalone and integrated rotary and uncrewed operations and training in
support of Defence, aeromedical, search and rescue, airborne law enforcement, resource and utility
aviation sectors. Training individuals and corporates across a multitude of qualifications, they support
and fly missions for major organisations to enhance operations and deliver critical services.
Carbonix CEO Philip van der Burg said the partnership will deliver significant synergies for both
companies.
“We are delighted to form a partnership with Toll Uncrewed Systems, whose expertise in training and
operations will broaden our own future growth and development,” Mr van der Burg said.
“Carbonix drones are already used in a range of scenarios all over the world including in commercial
and military operations, fire fighting and other ISR (Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance)
applications. This partnership will allow us to focus and scale on our core business of developing highly
effective drone platforms and equipping them with best of breed sensors that will enhance existing
long range operations, and ensure that world class training is available across the board.
Carbonix continues to develop cutting edge technology that is built and supported in Australia,
delivering valuable export revenue and helping build the skill base in Australia’s STEM and knowledge
economy.
“From tip to tail, every component in our long range VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) drones is an
example of Australian-made excellence.”
Toll Uncrewed Systems Chief Pilot Wayne Condon emphasised the strategic importance of local
collaboration.
“An official partnership with Carbonix is an alignment with our own values supporting sovereign
entities in the uncrewed world. Our experienced trainers are excited about the opportunity to work
with an Australian based manufacturer and match these sophisticated platforms with Australian
training excellence.”
