In a historic milestone achieved in October, Wisk became the very first electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi company to conduct flight operations in the greater Los Angeles Area, specifically at Long Beach Airport. These groundbreaking test flights marked a significant leap forward in autonomous flight operations within a complex real-world commercial airport environment, alongside conventional passenger airline operations.
The pinnacle of this endeavor was witnessed during the Long Beach Festival of Flight when Wisk culminated its flight program at Long Beach Airport with the region’s premier public demonstration of an eVTOL air taxi flight. This groundbreaking flight featured Wisk’s 5th Generation autonomous eVTOL aircraft, known as Cora. This remarkable achievement underscores the safety and viability of autonomous passenger flight.
Adding to this monumental achievement, Wisk played host to esteemed guests, including the Mayor of Long Beach, local and state officials from the broader Los Angeles region (including Orange County), and key representatives from Boeing. The purpose of this gathering was to engage in productive discussions concerning the future of Advanced Air Mobility within the region.

Wisk’s leadership journey in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area commenced in 2022 with a strategic partnership announcement through the city’s Long Beach Economic Partnership (LBEP). This collaboration primarily focuses on evaluating, planning, and implementing AAM solutions in Long Beach, as part of a more extensive regional network, with a particular emphasis on autonomous flight. To further this cause, Wisk sponsored research on the economic impact of AAM for the region, conducted by California State University, Long Beach, resulting in a comprehensive report.
