BlueHalo Secures $76M Other Transaction Authority Prototype Award for Army AMP-HEL Multi-Purpose Vehicle Program

BlueHalo, a leading provider of industry-leading capabilities in Space, C-UAS and Autonomous Systems, Cyber, and AI/ML, has been awarded a $45.7M base prototype Other Transaction Authority (OTA) by the U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) for the development of the Army Multi-Purpose High Energy Laser (AMP-HEL) system. This system will provide an Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) mounted 20-kilowatt class laser weapon to defend against the growing Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) threats in the battlefield. The award includes $30.2M in options, providing ample opportunity for the company to further innovate and refine the system.

BlueHalo’s long-standing heritage in directed energy and optical targeting and tracking systems makes it a leader in the Counter-UAS market. Additionally, the company has a successful track record with its Laser Weapon Systems (LWS) LOCUST, which have been used to engage and defeat numerous drone threats across a wide variety of background, clutter, slant range, and threat conditions.

The AMP-HEL system will provide additional overmatch capabilities to protect Division and Brigade Combat Teams. By leveraging advanced software, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) algorithms, and processing, the directed energy “kill chain” will be enhanced, which includes tracking, identifying, and engaging a wide variety of targets with its hard-kill HEL.

This marks another historic step for the deployment of more High Energy Laser (HEL) systems and the modernization of our national defense capabilities. BlueHalo’s layered defense solutions, like the successful deployment of the Palletized High Energy Laser (P-HEL) prototype, are transforming national security by providing soldier-centered technology and inspired engineering to meet the toughest challenges.

Through this award, BlueHalo continues to solidify its position as a leader in the Counter-UAS market and a proven alternative prime for its customers. With a focus on inspired engineering, the company develops, transitions, and fields next-generation capabilities to solve the most complex challenges of its customers’ critical missions and reestablishes our national security posture in the near-peer contested arena.

In summary, this latest development from BlueHalo demonstrates its continued commitment to providing innovative, cutting-edge solutions to protect our warfighters and nation. The AMP-HEL award and the successful deployment of the P-HEL system are just the latest in a string of disruptive innovations from BlueHalo’s layered defense solutions that are transforming national security.
