DroneShield Unveils Latest Firmware Update for DroneOptID at IDEX 2023
DroneShield is proud to announce the latest update to its DroneOptID platform, which was showcased at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2023 in Abu Dhabi. DroneOptID is a cutting-edge system that employs computer vision to control thermal and optical sensors and detect, classify, and track small drones or UAV targets.
Customers subscribed to DroneShield’s DroneSentry-C2 with DroneOptID software subscription will receive quarterly updates to the proprietary DroneOptID classification engine. The DroneOptID platform is camera-agnostic, and DroneShield offers multiple camera options to support various customer use cases, performance, and budget requirements.
This latest firmware update features several major upgrades that enhance the system’s performance, including an improved optical scan pattern algorithm for faster target acquisition, significant improvement to the passive optical object size estimation, and a full-featured integration of the DroneOpt2 model, which supports both thermal and optical feeds with DroneOptID classification. Additionally, the detection model has been optimized for faster acquisition and improved high-speed target optical tracking, and the DroneOptID provides a data stream designed to integrate with sensor fusion-based systems such as DroneSentry-C2. The update also expands the reliability, accuracy, and functionality of the technology by reducing the probability of false detections with an expansion of the DroneOptID data sets.
Angus Bean, Chief Technology Officer of DroneShield, emphasized the importance of the quarterly firmware release in supporting the counterdrone industry as it continues to mature and end-users take back control of their low altitude airspace.
