Alpha Unmanned Systems and Telefónica join forces to develop 5G-enabled drone services

Alpha Unmanned Systems (AUS), a Madrid-based unmanned helicopter (UAV) manufacturer, has announced a collaboration agreement with Telefónica, a leading communication and telephony service company. The agreement will see Telefónica become AUS’s priority partner for 5G communication services, while AUS will be Telefónica’s partner when unmanned helicopters are required.

The collaboration is expected to result in the development of various solutions in the defense and security sectors, with a focus on onboard applications. Alpha’s vertical take-off drones and Telefónica’s 5G communication systems are complementary and will enable the expansion of Alpha’s internationalization to new markets worldwide.

Eric Freeman, CEO of AUS, said “This is an extremely important agreement as it will allow us to expand our internationalization to more and new markets worldwide. While our helicopters already fly on three continents and are present in more than 8 countries around the world, the agreement reached with one of the world’s leading communication and telephony service companies, Telefónica, will allow Alpha to access dozens of new markets.”

Alpha’s A800 and A900 platforms are highly advanced and professional unmanned flight systems designed for both civilian and military/security use, with a high level of aeronautical engineering and sophistication. Founded in 2014, AUS has made direct international sales to both institutional organizations (governments and armed forces) and private entities, with recurring clients in Spain, Israel, USA, Greece, Indonesia, Georgia, Turkey, European Union, etc. With a highly qualified professional team, and with a clear commitment to its niche market, Alpha is considered one of the top three tactical UAV helicopter manufacturers worldwide.
