AstraUTM adds Drolo (Finland) to its list of global UTM deployments

AstraUTM is thrilled to announce its second deployment in Finland in the DROLO USP Project for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. AstraUTM will deploy a USSP instance for the DROLO USP project with the aim of integrating the system with Fintraffic ANS’s CIS solution.

“We are living in exciting times in Urban Air Mobility development in Europe and in Finland, and the now delivered AstraUTM constitutes one of the most important pieces to our U-Space puzzle. The Drolo consortium is thrilled to now be able to commence their advanced test flight program on their way to their ultimate goal of creating a sustainable business from urban airspace.” says VTT’s Dr. Petri Mononen, coordinator of the Drolo co-innovation initiative.

“The implementation will facilitate advanced demonstrations of BVLOS use cases and real-time telemetry exchange over the 4G/5G cellular network. We are particularly eager to demonstrate advanced Uspace capabilities such as Dynamic Rerouting and automated Flight Planning as part of this project.” said Ayhan Kamil, Chief Commercial Officer at AstraUTM.

About Drolo:
Drolo develops business opportunities for partially or fully automated, intelligent and 5G-connected multifunctional drone concepts that can be utilized in the service businesses of surveillance, logistics and drone operator industries, as well as in the manufacturing and sales businesses of software technology, platform technology and network technology products. The aim of the project is to (I) enable automated, secure, scalable drone systems, products and services to support future drone applications, as well as to (ii) establish a Finnish Drolo innovation and business ecosystem to accelerate development and secure the competitive edge. The project is linked to European
regulatory development so that U-Space services can be launched, tested and piloted in Finland first or among the first. The Living Lab test environment included in DroLo in the Oulu region is ideal in many ways, as it combines piloting with various service needs and flight environments, such as a medium-sized international airport, seaport, inhabited island, medium-sized city center and 5G development center.

About AstraUTM:
