The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced today that Autel Robotics USA CEO Steve McIrvin will be serving on the 2017 Board of Industry Leaders.
Of 24 members announced on the Board of Industry Leaders and Executive Board, McIrvin is the only representative from a drone manufacturer. He will serve on the board through Dec. 31, 2019.
CTA is the nation’s leading trade association and represents more than 2,200 consumer technology companies. Among other events, CTA puts on the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The Board of Industry Leaders advises the CTA and its Executive Board in helping set public policy positions and priorities for association activities.
“I believe strongly in the mission of the CTA,” McIrvin said. “Their help in shaping drone policy for the benefit of all has been tremendous, focusing our efforts as a country to adopt rules that strike the right balance between safety and freedom of innovation. I’m looking forward to serving [on the BIL] during the next three years.”
Voting on the board was open to all CTA members, and positions were evaluated on several criteria including company and personal diversity, CTA and CES involvement, leadership, and relevant experience.
